We are pleased to present to you a coffee from Uganda, a promising territory for specialty coffee, although still largely unknown.

This coffee is the fruit of the work of 1700 farmers from Kyarumba, Uganda. There, on the slopes of Mount Rwenzori, on the border with Kenya, everything comes together for quality coffees.

Flavors: Fruity (Pineapple, Orange), Gourmet (Vanilla sugar, Milk chocolate)

Traceability: Cooperative

Agri Evolve is a family business, established on Mount Rwenzori since 2015.

In Kyarumba, each farmer owns an average of ½ hectare, and works in mixed farming. Besides coffee, beans, matokke, sweet potatoes and peanuts are also grown.

After the harvest, between March and June, each farmer offers his cherries to Agri Evolve at one of the Kyarumba collection points. The sold cherries are sent to the Nyabirongo station, where quality control is carried out and the cherries are separated into 2 distinct qualities by flotation, before being dried.

The cherries are dried for 3 weeks, on one of the 140 drying beds of the station. They are mixed continuously, by hand, to ensure uniform drying. The cherries are then pulped and exported by Agri Evolve.

Region: Rwenzori

The Rwenzori region is in western Uganda. According to reports, 71% of the land is used for agriculture and 14% is forest. The Rwenzori people are generally smallholder farmers. Living on the steep slopes of the Rwenzori, farmers have an average of 1000 hectares, and produce food for home consumption as well as for sale in local markets: coffee, cocoa and vanilla. Coffee is the most common cash crop in the region.
