Curupira (Espirito Santo, Brazil)
Curupira is a sustainable specialty coffee grown in the lush mountains of Espirito Santo, Brazil. Transported to Europe by sail, thanks to a partnership between Belco and specialised cargo shipowners, it represents a truly low-carbon, eco-friendly coffee journey — from farm to cup.
A unique Brazilian terroir
Espirito Santo stands out in the Brazilian coffee landscape: its steep mountain slopes, proximity to the Atlantic Ocean, and humid tropical climate create a bright acidity and refined aromatic clarity more reminiscent of Colombian coffees than typical Brazilian profiles. Small family farms, usually 5 to 20 hectares, rely on 100% manual and selective picking to ensure exceptional consistency and quality.
Commitment to sustainability
This coffee is certified HNV 1 (High Nature Value), a sustainability standard developed with our partner FAF to assess and improve regenerative farming practices. Farms at this level cultivate cover crops to enrich and protect the soil, supporting biodiversity and long-term resilience. Every cup of Curupira helps sustain both people and planet.
Flavor profile
Roasted to a medium profile to enhance its natural balance, Curupira delivers a rich, complex and smooth espresso with notes of caramel, hazelnut, chocolate and a gentle touch of cardamom. A versatile coffee that shines in both espresso and filter brewing methods.
